Take action now! Help GCAAR stand against the county's property and income tax hikes
Last month, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich proposed massive property and income tax, along with fee increases. The county's operating budget is now in the hands of the County Council.
While some officials have signaled their opposition to the property tax increase, the fight is far from over. Many alternative budget plans have been introduced, including proposals by Council President Fani-Gonzalez and Councilmember Jawando. With neither having major support at the Council, there are still major questions about how the spending would increase the county's structural deficit.
Tell the county to stop the tax hikes. An over 6% property tax increase, in addition to the huge increases in assessments, an over 3% income tax increase and a half dozen fee increases will only worsen affordability in the county.
GCAAR is requesting members to make their voice heard and stop the tax hikes.
